Join Zoom Meeting

Meeting ID: 816 2411 6938
Passcode: 692526

A major part of each Sunday service consists of listening prayerfully to the reading of a Lesson Sermon from the Holy Bible with correlative passages from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Each week's Lesson Sermon deals with one of 26 successive Bible Lesson subjects. The Bible Lessons are published in the Christian Science Quarterly and studied in advance by those around the world interested in furthering their understanding of Christian Science. Copies of the Quarterly are made available to the congregation for use in the services and can be purchased from our Reading Room for use at home.

The Lesson Sermon is read aloud by two readers, and the service includes music, a scriptural selection, hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal, a musical solo, silent prayer, and the Lord’s Prayer. The service concludes with a Blessing.

Testimony Meetings take place on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday of each month from 6.00 – 7.00pm.

The focus of Testimony Meetings is two-fold: to address prayerfully topics of current concern to the community or the world in general through readings from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and to provide opportunity for those attending to share healing experiences and gratitude arising from their study and practice of Christian Science. Hymn singing is a special aspect of these meetings.

Our Reading Room, located in the church building, is open after every service, on Thursdays from 10am to 12 noon, or by appointment (see Reading Room page).

  • What Is Christian Science?

    What is Christian Science?

Christian Science is a Bible-based Christian teaching focused on spirituality and healing. Its purpose is to bless humanity, helping each of us to experience more of our God-given heritage of health and freedom.

Founded in the 19th century by Mary Baker Eddy, a radical spiritual pioneer, thinker, and healer, Christian Science is strongly Christian in its dedication to practising the teachings of Jesus and his early followers.

A foundational statement of the Christian Science movement is that it aims to ‘reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing’ (Church Manual). Christian Science should not be confused with Scientology, with which it has nothing in common.

The Christian Science movement is named the Church of Christ, Scientist and comprises The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass., USA, with its democratically self-governing branch churches and societies around the world.

    Mary Baker Eddy

    Mary Baker Eddy

Mary Baker Eddy is the discoverer and founder of Christian Science. She brought renewed world attention to the importance of Christian healing as practised by Christ Jesus and his early followers.

She lived in New England from 1821 to 1910. Following a significant healing in 1866, she devoted her life to clarifying, applying, and then sharing the spiritual laws underlying spiritual healing.

Her discovery is explained in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

She established the Christian Science church to make this teaching and practice widely available.

The first tenet, or important point, of Christian Science reads, ‘As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life’ (Science and Health, 497).

Science and Health is available in our Reading Room to read, borrow or purchase, or you can read it online here.

Find out more about Mary Baker Eddy here.

    Online biographies are available here.

    Seeking and Finding

    Seeking and Finding

    Who should investigate Christian Science?

Christian Science attracts people seeking real answers to life’s big questions. Questions such as Who am I? What is my purpose? Is there a recipe for health? Is there such a thing as spiritual healing? Why is there such trouble in the world and what can I do about it? What is the true basis of human flourishing?

As with anything worthwhile, the answers offered are neither slick nor glib and certainly demand spiritual effort and consecration. But the rewards are profound and permanent.

Why not obtain a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy? See what you make of it.

You might want to take special note of the final chapter, ‘Fruitage’, which consists of healings experienced by simply reading this book with close spiritual attention.

The book’s opening words are, ‘To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings’ (vii).

Why not begin to reap some of these blessings …?
